A Partnership to Create Transformational Impact for Veterans

For decades, Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota (GESMN) supported the military veteran community with dedicated employment services. In fact, the federal government first requested our support in the rehabilitation of servicemen with disabilities following WWII, which launched many of our original job-training programs. We carry on the legacy of honoring veterans through partnerships like our recent initiative with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), whose mission is to end veteran homelessness in the state.

Alongside MACV, we are supporting veterans who face housing insecurity and helping our construction program participants gain hands-on construction training skills and paid work experience in the Twin Cities. GESMN’s construction program begins with six weeks of classroom instruction, followed by six weeks of hands-on site work. Participants in the training program have dedicated 400+ hours and collectively earned $5,400+ in paid wages renovating a building in St. Paul that will offer safe and stable housing for local veterans.

Based on the success of the partnership, MACV and GESMN are exploring opportunities to expand collaboration efforts at future project sites. Financial support for GESMN’s mission is critical to the partnership’s development and its ability to address the employment and housing needs in our community. We are proud of our work with MACV and believe it represents a bold example of how our shared vision can create transformational impact for our community.
